2007-7-11 Grammarian Report

Dear Fellows:
Thanks to Caroline's report at first.

1.Let’s get Learning form movie因為movie範圍太大。可能你學的只是寓意或某一部份，所以把from改成behind會比較好。

2.Evaluation要表示給你不同的看法用suggestion或different thought會比較貼切。例如：I have a suggestion to your speech或I have a different thought to your speech. 然後說出你的意見。

3.要表示敞開心房接受外界，用open his/her mind是比較通用的。

4.注意a series of movie 不要唸成 a serious of movie. series 唸成「ser-ri噁s」, serious 唸成「sii-ri噁s」.

5.飛在半空中用fly in the air, 切勿用through the air. through是穿過的意思。除非你從外太空飛穿過地球大氣層然後再回到外太空。歷史上好像還沒有這種東西出現。好像我也沒夢過。

6.你要讀won,讀成one就可以了，這是同音字。

7.要說一開始可以用at the first 或 in the beginning, 不要說成in the first, at the beginning. 不要問我為什麼，這是老外的習慣說法。

8.要說模仿你可以用imitate 或 pretend當及物動詞.

9.在介紹外賓要說客套話， 可用thank you for your participating. If you are interested in our club, I will share more with you.
第九項我星期四在RedHill聽到另一種說法，Contact with us. 而他們的Grammarian說用Contact us才對，因為Contact 是及物動詞。但我還是覺得在會議中用Contact us不妥。人家都來當來賓了，用這個字好像這個客人還在逛網站那樣遙遠。這不是文法的問題，而是場合的問題。
